Founding Team
Steven Harrison President & CEO
Steven has over 20 years in financial and operations management experience in industries from industrial manufacturing to software development. Steven moved to the USA from England in 1990. In 1999 he co-founded IntellectMarket, a software company that was sold to CollabNet in 2001. He then became Chief Financial Officer of TriVascular, Inc., sold to Boston Scientific in April 2005.
Throughout the last ten years Steven has been an advisor to several early stage businesses including Think Tank Photo, 9mm Books, RedCondor, LoyaltyMatch and other early stage businesses. Steven is also a fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.
Brian Erwin Chief Marketing Strategist
A pioneer in the development of network and Internet-based marketing, Mr. Erwin specializes in helping start-up businesses with their marketing and demand generation. He was Vice President, Sales & Marketing of DigitalMed, a pioneer in healthcare online training, and O'Reilly & Associates, a leading technology information company. While there he led or participated on the teams that launched the company's entry into Internet publishing, created the world's first commercial Web portal, launched the first desktop Web server, and organized the first Open Source conference. Prior to that, he founded the media office of the national Sierra Club and was a publishing executive in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He has served on the boards of directors and in advisory capacities for several for-profit and non-profit organizations and provided marketing services to start-ups and established for-profit and not-for-profit ventures.
Lorin Kobashigawa Lead Developer
Lorin has been building web applications since 1997 in areas as diverse as content management, home loan originations, retailer-manufacturer relationship management and online banking. Most recently, Lorin led the team that designed and built Washington Mutual's first realtime application for opening accounts online. Focused on simplicity and speed, the new application process launched WaMu into the top 5 online banks within the first year.
Orion Harbour Lead Designer
Orion has been working as a graphic designer in the bay are since 1999. He has worked on many prominent brands including HP, Yahoo, eBay, and Burton Snowboards. He has also worked with many high-profile creative firms such as Digital Brewing Co., Element Design Group, and Traction Corp.

Denny Van Ness Chairman
Mr. Van Ness formed Hidden Hill Advisors to provide independent advice and support to venture capital investors and to emerging, rapidly growing companies.
Mr. Van Ness has over 30 years of experience in venture capital investing, venture investment group development, and emerging growth company development. His experience began in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant on board USS HAVRE. In the early seventies he acted as corporate finance intermediary, commercial lender and merchant banker at State Street Bank and Trust Company in Boston (representative companies include Prime Computer, Storage technology, ATEX Corp.); as part of a turn-around team for Inforex, Inc.; and as a project manager implementing selected recommendations of a blue-ribbon Task Force on Capital and Labor Markets for The New England Regional Commission. From 1977 to 1985, starting from scratch, he was instrumental in developing a multi-fund, $500 million-plus venture capital operation at Hambrecht & Quist (CommTerm, Apollo Computer, Mentor Graphics, XOMA, Sungene). In 1986 he formed Olympic Venture Partners (now OVP Venture Partners), a venture fund focused on the Pacific Northwest, as a founding General Partner (Epoch Pharmaceuticals, Unify Corp.). After Olympic was well established as the leading venture capital fund for technology and bioscience companies in the Pacific Northwest, and had raised its second fund, he returned to San Francisco in 1996. He was engaged by CIBC Capital Partners to open and build a West Coast office for this Canadian bank Merchant Bank fund (Absolute Software, Epoch Networks, iCat Corp.).
He holds a bachelor's degree in American History and Literature from Williams College and a Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
Currently a Director of Xoma Corporation (NASDAQ: XOMA), The Sonoma Land Trust, and several private companies and current Chairman of the North Bay Angels.

Nick Goldschmidt
Former Senior Vice President, Executive Winemaker, Beam Wine Estates
Born and educated in New Zealand, Nick Goldschmidt's career began in 1982 with a research position at the New Zealand Lincoln University where he graduated with Distinction in Horticulture. Nick went on to specialize in viticulture studies at Wagga Wagga, and oenology at the highly acclaimed Roseworthy program, at Adelaide University in South Australia. During his time as a student Nick worked at noted wineries such as Kumeu River, Coopers Creek and Babich.
In 1989, after 18 months of winemaking in Australia, New Zealand, California, and South America; including his first harvest in Chile as winemaker for Calitera, Nick returned to California with an amazing range of winemaking experiences. In 1990, Nick became Simi's Associate Winemaker. Nick was promoted to Chief Winemaker 1991 and became Vice President and Chief Winemaker in 1996. Nick spent a total of 13 years at Simi and was one of the driving forces that brought the Simi Reserve Cabernet program to notoriety.
In May of 2003 Nick accepted the position of Executive Vice President and Winemaker at Allied Domecq Wines USA. During recent acquisitions Nick has been named Vice President and Executive Domestic Winemaker for Beam Estates wine portfolio. As winemaker for Beam estates, Nick oversees the production of Clos Du Bois, Buena Vista, Haywood, Garcia, Atlas Peak, William Hill, Gary Farrell and Jakes Fault. In the global arena his work takes him to Mexico, Spain, Argentina and New Zealand where he is involved with blends being imported into the domestic market as well as several domestic brands that are being exported into other global markets.
David Hehman
Mr. David Hehman is a founding partner of Spartina Ventures, LLC. Spartina assists emerging companies with business start-up matters, business strategy, management team recruiting, capital raising and mentoring.
David has co-founded and sold 5 technology businesses: HealthDesk (HDSK), GetawayZone (VacationSpot/EXPE), MarketHome (CLAC), EscapeHomes (TotalMove), Pagewise.com (DemandMedia).
Mr. Hehman received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from University of California at Berkeley in December 1992, and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, Hass School of Business in 1998. In 2001, Mr. Hehman attended the PriceBabson@Berkeley symposium for Entrepreneurial Educators.
Jim Schinella
Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships — Yahoo!
Jim heads Yahoo's Corporate Partnership organization which develops and manages a portfolio of Yahoo's top global business partners. Prior to this role, Jim served as Global VP of Business Development at Yahoo! from 2003 to 2006, in this role; Jim oversaw the company's business development activities for the broadband, mobile and digital home businesses. Under his leadership landmark partnerships with SBC/AT&T, Rogers Cable, Bell South, Verizon, Philips, Cingular, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Nokia, and T-Mobile were created. In 2006 Jim expanded the team's focus globally, hiring teams in Europe, Asia and the US.
Jim joined Yahoo! in 2003 after heading sales for a web services start-up, Digital Evolution (now SOA Software). Prior to SOA, Jim held senior positions in Business Development, Sales, and General Management, at America Online, Netscape, and Hewlett Packard.
Jim holds a B.S. in finance from Bentley College and an MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School.
